Introduction
With this site/blog I have combined two of my hobbies. My old love “webdesign” and all its features; and a new love “Amigurumi”.
The header of this site shows what a dictionary would say about amigurumi, if it had been a well known word worth to be mentioned in one 😉 . The header is in Dutch, but I’ll explain below.
‘Amigurumi’ is a Japanese word, made up of two other words. The first word ‘ami’ literally means knitting and the second word ‘nuigurumi’ means stuffed toy. Even though the world literally means knitting stuffed toys, most amigurumi are crocheted. The Japanese don’t really make a big distinction between the two.
Lately I have been obsessed over Japan and everything from or about it. I figure it was only a matter of time before I came into contact with the art of amigurumi. But it actually was one of my friends who told me about it. Seeing as I had always wanted to learn how to crochet, I decided to give it a try.
In the mean time, crocheting has almost become an obsession of itself. The amount of free patterns available online is endless and there is always that one amigurumi you just need to have :p .
Then why did I create this site?
On the one hand I have made the site for the friend I mentioned above, who asked me where I found my patterns and tutorials. I thought it would be easier if I ordened everything here. Okay, I admit that I will grasp at any excuse to dust of my webdesign talent 8) .
On the other hand I want to keep track of my amigurumi made and the ones I want to make.
And now we are ready to do just that 😉 !
