The Broken Binding Sci-Fi Sub #6: Feb-Apr-Jun 2026
The next series for The Broken Binding Sci-Fi Subscription was already announced back in December last year. Considering this is a bi-monthly subscription and given how long it has taken me to actually show them here, you can probably already guess that this time it wasn’t a standalone book, nor a duology, but a trilogy.

The trilogy in question is the Silo series by Hugh Howey.
Inside, men and women live an enclosed life full of rules and regulations, of secrets and lies.
To live, you must follow the rules. But some don’t. These are the dangerous ones; these are the people who dare to hope and dream, and who infect others with their optimism.
Their punishment is simple and deadly. They are allowed outside.
Jules is one of these people.
She may well be the last.
This is a series that has actually been on my wishlist for a very long time, and it came back onto my radar when I discovered that a TV series was being made based on it. That series is now already heading into its fourth season and I still haven’t read the books, lol. So hopefully these editions will finally give me the push I need!
Between March and June, I received each volume beautifully wrapped, as we’ve come to expect from The Broken Binding. With this series, The Broken Binding also announced that, just like with their Fantasy subscription, they would start including matching bookmarks with the books. All three were sent together with the final book.
The trilogy received a completely unique cover design, featuring fully painted illustrations by @ryan.t.hancock.
Now, I have to admit that these aren’t illustrations that immediately grab my attention. In a bookshop, my eyes would probably glide right past them. BUT they are very beautiful illustrations, and I think they have much more impact when I actually open the covers and get to see the artwork in full.
The naked hardcover designs really capture that Sci-Fi/dystopian feeling of old manuscripts that have been rediscovered, or books that have clearly been through a thing or two. What the significance of the alternative titles The Pact, The Order and The Legacy is, compared to the original titles Wool, Shift and Dust, is something I’ll have to discover while reading, but I really like these designs by @claymorecovers.
All three books have their edges sprayed black, with an illustration only on the fore edge. When you place the three books next to each other, the full image of an Archimedes’ screw appears. Once again, I’ll have to discover the full meaning behind this while reading the books.
Each book also comes with matching head and tail bands and a ribbon bookmark.
Each book also comes with a signed signature page. Although The Broken Binding says that signatures can’t be guaranteed for their Sci-Fi books, I have a feeling that every copy from a living author ended up being signed. Nice!
Each set of endpapers features more illustrations, this time by @rickyhoconcepts. Once again, I’m particularly looking forward to discovering what all these scenes actually depict and what significance they have within the story once I finally get around to reading the books.
As mentioned earlier, this Sci-Fi series also comes with matching bookmarks, following the same format as the Fantasy subscription. One side indicates which subscription and month the book belongs to, while the other features a quote from the book.
As always, The Broken Binding has produced an incredibly well-crafted set. The quality is exceptionally high, there is an impressive amount of artwork throughout the books, and I have a feeling that quite a few of these illustrations will only reveal their full meaning once I’ve actually read the stories.

The next Sci-Fi series is another trilogy, scheduled for August, October and December. However, The Broken Binding has fallen a little behind schedule this time. The August book still isn’t ready to be shipped, so my next update about the Sci-Fi subscription probably won’t appear here until next year!
Cheers,
Charlotte
