Super Mario and Luigi hats

My Super Mario creations for Christmas were not limited to the various keychains.
While I was looking for inspiration for making those keychains, I stumbled upon this pattern by Laura Michels for large wearable Mario and Luigi hats.
Although my hands were already feeling the strain of making the keychains, I couldn’t resist making these too, for my youngest godchild this time. And because the crochet was less minuscule and tight, this worked out quite well.

At first I was only going to make the red Mario hat. But hey, I can never resist being extra, so since the Mario hat crocheted very quickly, it was soon followed by a green Luigi one.

For the pattern I followed the exact instructions of Laura Michels, except for the crochet letters, which I made a bit bigger.

I really liked the result and thought it was super cute. But unfortunately they turned out to be too small for my godchild, so after New Year I made a second red Mario one that I crocheted according to the same pattern, but with a few extra increase rounds to enlarge the circumference, which worked out perfectly!

Cheers,
Charlotte
